New IRS Information Reporting Website Announced
February, 2002
A new IRS Information Reporting Website will be released in February 2002, on the SB/SE homepage. The address is http://www.irs.gov/smallbiz/index.htm.
What is the IRP Website?
The IRP Website centralizes information about the Information Reporting Program requirements to one location. This website will include information about how to file information returns electronically, magnetically or paper. The site will also provide information on the Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC), an advisory group created to advise the IRS on information reporting issues, reduce taxpayer burden and improve the overall administration of information reporting.
What are the benefits of filing information returns electronically verses magnetically?
Electronic filing is more cost effective and easier than filing on paper or magnetic media.
Paperless, no Form 4804 requirements.
Later due dates for electronically filed Forms 1098, 1099, & W-2G.
Electronic filers will receive results within 1-2 workdays regarding the acceptability of the data transmitted (excludes Forms 1042-S, 8027, and QWF). It is the filer's responsibility to dial back in to check results.
