MA Delays PFML 3 months to Oct. 1, 2019

July 18, 2019 Paid Leave, State Issues

On June 14, MA Department of Family and Medical Leave announced a three month delay of the Paid Family and Medical Leave Program to allow employers more time to prepare their organizations and workforces.

As a result, withholding is to commence on Oct. 1, 2019. The withholding rate for employee contributions to the program has increased from .63% to .75% to account for the decreased time frame due to the delay. Here’s a link to the announcement:https://www.mass.gov/news/notice-to-massachusetts-employers-about-pfml-delay

As we speak, the NPRC is working with the MA DFML to identify frequently asked questions that we are receiving from clients. This will help them in their upcoming outreach efforts (webinars, employer communications).
