Treasury and IRS to launch redesigned W-4 Form in 2020 to Ensure Smooth Taxpayer Experience
The NPRC has been active in voicing concerns over whether employers would be able to timely and accurately implement the significant proposed changes to the 2019 Form W-4.
On September 20th,Â the Treasury Department announced that the IRS will implement a redesigned W-4 form for tax year 2020, a timeline that will allow for continued work to refine the new approach for the form. Here’s a link to the full Treasury press release:
RoutineÂ updates (inflation adjustments, dates) will be made on the 2019 Form W-4. The early release is expected in a couple of weeks and the final release will be in the November/December time frame.Â The major revisions proposed in the draft 2019 Form W-4 will be considered for 2020.
